...with a fun, new cookbook. A friend and her family have released their family recipes in an ebook cookbook. You can find out about here. Believe me, I went over and bought it. I've been smelling this food cooking for years and even dreamed about it!
If you know me, then you know I grew up in Wyoming. Love the state, but let me tell you, in the "make your home smell wonderful" stakes, Louisiana wins hands down. I can still remember that spicy smell in my nose walking through the Quarter--or sitting in my friend's house. And when I say spicy, I'm not talking about hot, I'm talking about rich flavors that explode on your tongue and curl your toes in delight. So, if you love trying new things, or were looking for a great Cajun cookbook, check it out. Your taste buds will thank you for it.
In other news, did you see the version of Jane Austen's Persuasion on Masterpiece? I really enjoyed it. I have the old version and like it, but it still liked this one better. I like the sharper focus on the relationship and the music. It was also fun to see some of my favorite places in Bath.
I was shocked (and delighted) when an unsolicited review (that's a review you didn't request) showed up on Pam's Pages on the 4th of January. Not only did she like the book, but she helped me finally find a definition for it beyond sfr (science fiction romance). She called it a space opera, which sounds fun and just about right.
I should be back at work on my second space opera soon. In the meantime, I'm working on some shorter fiction until my son is back on his feet. If you like space opera, you might like Linnea Sinclair's books. I know I've very much enjoyed them and added them to my keeper shelf.
Hope the New Year is treating you well and you're finding lots of good reads and good food. :-)
Perilously yours,
Pauline
