Sweet Thoughts....

Perils of Pauline Logo
Do you cycle through cravings? Like eat the same candy bar for a while, then suddenly get tired of it and need a new favorite?

I do.

Of course, my cycles can last a long time. Or not.

I used to eat Junior MInts like they were candy. Oh wait, they are candy. Then I read how much fat there is FIVE of the little suckers. I still love them with warm popcorn, but don't eat them daily. (I hope their stock didn't fall when I broke that habit!)

I always like Bings and Idaho Spuds, but I have to "import" them (i.e. have them mailed to me), so the I can't satisfy those cravings in the summer. Shoot me, but I don't like my candy bars in liquid form! So, I've been eating Reese's Peanut Butter cups. A lot. Still eating them, but the craving is starting to wane. My problem is, I don't have anything (but a few frozen Idaho Spuds and they won't last) to replace them. I stand in front of the candy section for WAY too long and nothing is whimpering, let along shouting, I'm your new best friend.

It's very sad.

In the good news section, The Key is a Dream Realm Finalist! Woot! I've never had a book I could enter into this contest, so I was excited just to be able to enter and then to final! They announce the winners in August at ArmadilloCon in Austin. :-)

I'm also excited that the release date for A Death in Texas is fast approaching. It is The Final Twist chapter anthology, our second one. My short, Men in Jeans, is a spin off of SF. Fyn makes a guest appearance. When it gets a bit closer, I'll post an excerpt. :-)

I think my other big excitement is Apple releasing third party applications for the iPhone! I downloaded ereader (when their server quit crashing from all the excitement). I love being able to read ebooks on my phone again! And I was impressed with all the applications. There are a lot of creative people out there. Someone even wrote an application that can turn you phone into a flashlight.

Okay, the first episode of Stargate Atlantis, Season Four, ROCKED, IMHO. Not looking forward to Woolsey taking over (they should have let the bugs eat him while he was in Stargate Sg-1).

I saw a trailer for a mid-season show that I'd like to watch and, how embarrassing, I can't remember what it was or what channel was bringing it out.

I did get my dvd of The Nude Bomb and I thought it was as funny as I remembered it. I realize its not to everyone's taste, but if you liked the original show, you'd probably like it. Only bummer, no 99.

I stalled out in my TBR again, because I'm writing. I'd like to say its going well, but all I can say right now is that it's going. It's also Monday, so "well" is probably not a realistic goal.

If you're on Twitter, look me up!
Perilously yours,
Pauline
